Fencing

Why not attend a fencing lesson or taster! You could take family or friends, make it competitive or just for a bit of fun. You could even be imaginative and pretend you were in a famous TV or film scene like the three musketeers! With some instructors for the sword fighting there is the option of plastic ones as well as metal. So if you are a little wary you can always opt to practise with plastic! Everyone must wear protective headgear for safety, that will be provided. Also when not practising what the instructor is teaching remember to keep your sword facing the floor and not waving it around where someone could get hurt!

Origami

Origami is an amazing thing to try and its surprising how easy some of them are to do. There are lots of books available with many designs to try, or there are also websites online with step by step instructions of how to make the design. You can buy specialised paper, or with some designs you could also use napkins, which would spruce up the table decorations at home, or within the workplace!

Milk A Cow

During your lifetime, why not visit a farm. You could just visit for the day or for a few days. See how the farm operates, and have a go yourself. Would be a break with a difference! Have a go at milking a cow while you are there, you’d be surprised at how easy it actually is! Early mornings collecting the eggs, feeding the animals, walks in the countryside…definately a must to try out!

Take up Photography

Taking pictures are a great way to capture things you have seen in life, from holidays to what you looked like when you were younger. They are also a great way to trigger memories of events that you had forgotten until you had seen that picture again. It’s amazing what you forget in everyday life. Why not take a camera around with you for a week to capture moments throughout the week. At the end looking through you could be surprised by all the things that you usually pass by and either don’t notice or forget about by the end of the day!

Self Defence

Why not give self defence lessons a go. They’re a great way to keep fit as well as learning how to protect yourself if you are ever in a bad situation. It’s a way to make yourself feel safer when you are out and about, and you can always take your friends along to the sessions as well or go home and teach everyone what you’ve learnt afterwards! There are self defence lessons going on in a lot of areas so don’t forget to find out if there are some near you!

Design your Own Website!

Why not create a website about something you enjoy, share your knowledge on a subject with others, or create a website just for fun. Would be quite an achievement to say you had your own website!

Learn Sign Language

A useful language to learn is sign language, which can help you to communicate with many people either with hearing difficulties, those with trouble with speech, or children before they have learnt to speak. Some of the signs could also assist with understanding when on holiday in other countries and you don’t know the language!

A lot of colleges do evening courses for you to learn sign language so check out if you could learn somewhere near you!
